“The Wall” project, a Gannett project spearheaded by the Arizona Republic, was an in-depth look at what it would really mean to build President Trump’s border wall.
From the beginning of the reporting process to full publication, the project nearly one year to complete. It published over 10 days of print content including two special sections.
Ultimately the project won a 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting, 2017 Scripps Howard Award for Innovation, and Society form News Design Award of Excellence in Print & Digital Design.
This Phoenix-based Pilates studio wanted an updated logo they could use as they expanded their business throughout the greater Phoenix area.
To assist with the brand refresh, I designed several pieces of clothing for reformed. These pieces are sold in their studios and/or given to clients as a part of their client rewards program.
As Reformed Pilates expanded, they updated their studio interiors design to match their updated brand. They wanted to see more of the brand within the studio and wanted a design concept that could be considered a “business in a box” for continued expansion.
COVID ReCoVery Consulting was created at the height of the CODVID-19 Pandemic in 2019. A team of doctors saw the need to help businesses reopen safely after closures.
Who’s Who in Business and What Women Want are both women-centric magazines, highlighting women in business and women’s interest stories.
A Phoenix Pilates instructor asked me to create a logo for a social media project she was starting. The 100 Hundred Project asks users on Instagram and Facebook to show their favorite interpretation of the classic Pilates exercise exercise.
Gannett newspapers ran quarterly Premium Editions. These were special subscriber-exclusive sections that were held in high esteem within the company as way of increasing revenue.
The first section, “New Jersey Eats” was for a group of papers in New Jersey. They wanted a colorful approach to design to match the photography.
“Hiking Oregon” gave readers a guide to the best hiking spots around the state. The challenge here was repurposing content and making it look fresh to readers. I made small locator maps for each park, and art directed a flat lay shot of a hiker’s pack.
I started my career in newspaper design at Gannett Co. Inc. I spent five years with the company as a Designer and Design Team Leader. I ended my time with Gannett as the Design Team Leader for the Arizona Republic, and a few other papers across the country.
